IC Inbox - Asgard Eventide

An old, brick edifice stands in front of the burnt-down ruins of a home in the hillside. Mountains rear up in all directions, covered in lush, green vegetation. Nobody comes this way anymore, but you have the sense that anything placed in the mailbox attached to this old structure will be found by someone, the only living person for whom this place still has any meaning.

I'm... better, Merlin. I'm not good, but I'm better. I'm not crazy right now, if that's what you're worried about. So, I guess you understand a little of what I was getting at.

Then maybe, you should, I don't know... take them up on it? Support systems exist for a reason, doofus. [Name calling. She went there.] Yeah, it's screwed up you turn into a bad sitcom villain every other night, but beating you up for it? It's like beating up a vampire for having to eat, or whatever other analogy you want to use.

[She's, more or less, uncaring when it comes to the habits of other species in relation to humans. To her, it was just weird to call out a non-human for doing things that amount to inevitable biological functions. Regardless, she does notice the tail coiling itself around her ankle, and purses her lips.]

Half of you doesn't want, and unless someone has a remote control for what you do in here, then I'm willing to bet it'll be easy enough to figure out when it goes off. So here's some good, old fashioned, blunt advice: build a bridge, and start getting over it. Things don't get better unless you put your back into it, even if it all goes to shit several times, got it?

[Welp. So sorry, Samantha. But she's more or less giving the other girl the same treatment she gives her makeshift "teammates" when they get stupidly hopeless in her opinion, yep.]

[she sagged, a little defeated, and just laughed. It wasn't a very long laugh, more like a throaty chuckle that sort of died in her throat. Her eyes looked towards Eve quietly for a moment while the girl spoke, staring out of the corners.]

The deer is telling the wolf to stop worrying so much if it has to feed on it. You... have no idea how amusing the wolf finds that right now. But, at this point, I 'get' that you don't think of these things like most people.

And yes. You'll know if it's the 'other me.' Let me ask you this, Eve. [She turned towards her, wiping a sleeve across her face and drying the tears that had formed with a sniff.] Will you forgive the wolf if it hunts you one day, and you can't get away? Will you be able to look it in the eyes the next day, after this place spits you back out of death?

I'll... try, but I want to know this from you. You talk a good talk, but what happens if it's you I grab one day and I win?

[She noticed her tail then, lightly tapping the back of Eve's calf. With an annoyed grunt, she reached down and pried it off, giving it a smack.]

Will you quit assuming I'm some fragile little human? I've taken on things three times your size, alone, and without awesome regenerative powers. Not everyone is going to be a victim. [Annoyed? Yes, she was. It was hard not to allow the scowl on her face to form, just as it was hard not to roll her eyes at the other girl's attitude. It seemed like wherever she went, all "dangerous" and "scary" supernatural creatures were ready to assume all humans were fickle and ready to be put off by the smallest things.]

And by the way, if what you're saying happens around the next millennium? Then you'll have to excuse me for whacking the head off Hamlet next time she comes out to play. [Geeze.]

Now get up, or I'm dragging you up. You're starting to remind me of somebody I know.

[she grunted as she was lifted up and gotten to her feet. The look she gave her was quizzical before it solicited another laugh, this one sounded a little more amused. Admittedly the 'lop the head off' comment made her wince a bit.]

Not, quite what I meant to say, Eve. Look, I'll take that. You see Hamlet coming for you, you go ahead and do what you need to, and we'll see who comes out on top. You're not the only one who's beaten things bigger than you before.

I just ... no, it's alright. I think, maybe, just maybe, we understand each enough for hand grenades. Let's get to the clinic, though. I feel like shit. That bastard's got steel toed boots.

[Shrugging it off, mostly, and adjusting her posture to make this easier. She didn't really see the need to take much heed to this kind of pessimism.]

Got it, got it. But next time, invest in a bottle of pepper spray. It does wonders against asses with steel toed boots, I assure you.

I... didn't want to fight back this time. I'll claw the next one's face off, just for you. Claws are better than pepper spray any day, you know.

Physically? Maybe. Emotionally? There's nothing quite like the stinging shame of knowing you got owned by a girl with pepper spray. [2007 phrases...]

Hah. Ok, yeah I see the point there. As long as they get how much shame's in that, at least. You're... alright. Kind of a bitch, but you're alright.

[As they started to reach Heimdall District, she smirked with a wince over at her. Somehow, 'bitch' didn't sound like it was meant to be an insult.]

Samantha-san? I think I've found a person who ticks all your boxes.

The angel? We've met once, maybe twice. He's alright with doing this? I mean, it's not like we know each other well, though I appreciate the effort.

That's him! I gave him your particulars but not your name, so you could think it over before contacting him.

Cheriour-san is big on protecting innocent people ... and he won't hold back or feel sorry for you. If you're serious about being stopped when you need to be -- he will stop you.

If he's willing to knock me unconscious, I'm ok with it. I don't know him well, so my concern is if he's going to go too far. I think I trust Castiel this way. I've met him, and we've talked, but he doesn't have the power to do it right at the moment. Cheriour and I don't know each other well.

However, I'll talk to him. It's not like I don't think he knows I'm not human already.

[She paused and looked up at the nearest building, sighing and rubbing her head.]

Tell me. Oh fearless one. If you don't mind me asking, what is it that made you come after me?

Like I said, appropriately placed concern. [Shrugging, to accentuate that sentence.] If you're going to be a threat, then I need to make sure casualties are as low as the successful marriage rates. Call it a force of habit, if you want.

[She hung her head a little and then looked at her out of the corner of her eye, a sad grin on her face as she coughed once and winced. They were getting ever closer to the clinic, so she slowed a little. When she spoke, she almost sounded disappointed for a moment.

Or maybe that was just the imagination playing tricks on a soul.]

I see. Fair enough, I suppose. I won't try to warn you off anymore. I'm sure I'll have worse watchdogs in the end. You're... at least tolerable to talk to.

[Being who she is, regardless of whether or not she caught that, she seems to ignore it. Noticing disappointment wasn't really her thing. Maybe.]

[She sighed and laughed again, wincing while she looked around the edges of Heimdall District. For some reason, this one seemed to have wandered into her life, and she had no idea why she was sticking her neck out. Still, she could try and take her at her word.]

Don't worry. I've dealt with my fair share of upset, chatty women.

[Which was an understatement, but she won't get into that. Instead, she'll take a cursory glance around the streets as she continues on.]
