[Amusingly enough, there was a similarity between the two. It wasn't that she had no feeling in those extremities, but rather that she was too used to not caring. She regenerated at home, and even if she didn't here it was a habit she couldn't get out of easily. When the staff lashed out, her head only partially shifted, the splinters gouging a furrow along her cheek while she saw the chain's strike barely even registered.
Her axe came up at the lunge and she braced herself to take the blow. It didn't turn aside, and so she reared her head back and bashed forward. Sometimes having a thick skull came in handy.]
