An old, brick edifice stands in front of the burnt-down ruins of a home in the hillside. Mountains rear up in all directions, covered in lush, green vegetation. Nobody comes this way anymore, but you have the sense that anything placed in the mailbox attached to this old structure will be found by someone, the only living person for whom this place still has any meaning.

[It was less trust, and more outright stress. Sam, despite the front, was a bit at her wits end. She was face to face with another war and dealing with yet another relationship nightmare in the middle of it. Kirino was just getting an earful at this point because she was convenient and somebody needed to shout.

It also didn't hurt that she didn't have much invested in this herself. A lot of the people Sam usually talked to did. Random strangers were like a dumping ground for her this week.]

I'll think about it. In the end, I'm not a troll, and dumbass is going to have to learn to deal with that.

What's the deal with trolls anyways? In my world they were just in stories and they lived under bridges, mostly.

It's the name they use. I think they're supposed to be aliens or something, but they behave more like demons than anything else. I swear, when I met one I thought she'd come from hell.

Some of them act like it.

If you ever meet one of them and they honk a bicycle horn all the time, avoid them. He's completely insane.

He's an insane killer clown who his best friend described as being 'murder happy.' From what the others said, that was supposed to be pretty accurate about Gamzee. I think he might have been trying to kill me the first time we met.

He didn't hit me hard enough.

Was until about a month and change ago. Haven't seen him in a while. I think he and Karkat're long gone. Good news is he's easy to recognize. You're looking for a giggling idiot that never bathes who's got big pointy horns, clown makeup a bicycle horn and a bowling pin in the other hand.

...this isn't something you just miss.

Yeaaah, that's a good description. The others here are usually better. A couple are kind of assholes, but they keep their violence between them... usually.

I haven't seen it in action, but I get the feeling it can. You really should work on it, actually. Just be careful what you ask for. You might get it.

Not quite what I'm talking about. You've got Charm. Be careful what you ask of them with that power. You might get it.

Well, I'm being vague for a reason. Plenty of things you could Charm someone to do you'd regret. [Not all naughty]

Charm makes them feel peaceful around you, fall in love with you, do whatever you ask of them, whatever you think you want. When the power turns off, what if they don't stop wanting you? What if they don't know how to take no for an answer, or they're the sort who just fawn over you. What if they make trouble for the people you actually like?

What if you think you want them to help you, but they turn out to be no use while they're besotten by your powers?

Or, what if they're like me... and when your powers turn off they go completely psycho on you and try making you nail yourself to the nearest wall so they can play with you?

Just... be careful when you use it. It's an easy power to abuse.

When the fighting dies down, talk to Merlin, Castiel or Conan. They've been keeping track of testing on powers. I'm not sure what they know about Charm, but there's probably been at least some testing.

I'm just paranoid.

Yep. Believe it or not, he's one of the strongest of all of us in Body Control.

It's one of the reasons I think a lot of people listen to him, even though he's eight or so. Well, that and him being a little eerily smart all the time. But yeah, I only just started catching up to him, and he's had a lot more time to practice with it.

I have a.... well, someone I know here is from my world, and there's no way I'm letting her get stronger at her powers than me.

Competition can be good, I guess. I'm not that interested in getting better at treating people like marionettes, myself. Still struggling with the ethics.
