IC Inbox - Asgard Eventide

An old, brick edifice stands in front of the burnt-down ruins of a home in the hillside. Mountains rear up in all directions, covered in lush, green vegetation. Nobody comes this way anymore, but you have the sense that anything placed in the mailbox attached to this old structure will be found by someone, the only living person for whom this place still has any meaning.

Most of them don't just walk the earth, and the smart ones tend to stay hidden. Mob justice scares most anyone, and the ones it doesn't worry about other big bads and artillery if they make too much noise.

They're there. There's plenty of them, but they prefer to stay just out of sight, where they can jump out and catch the unwary.

Is it like Earth... or is it a different planet--or, you know what I mean?

My mom raised me in West Virginia, so yeah. Earth. Some of the crap I saw wasn't from earth, though. But it was Earth.

Hmm. Okay. Umm... well, do ya want to know anything about me?

[not that she doesn't have more questions, but she doesn't want to monopolize it.]

[She sighed and rubbed her forehead, shaking her head. This was hard to do at this point. She gave a slightly sad laugh and breathed out.]

Are you always this stubborn, or is this just with strangers?

[Yukari has to laugh a little guiltily.]

Umm... I guess I've always been a little stubborn. One time I made my friends go investigate some disappearances in a pretty bad part of town, just because---Um, because of something dumb. I... uh, just wanted to prove some ghost stories wrong.

I am probably going to sound like your mother for a moment, but one of these days that habit of yours is going to cost you. I can't entirely fault it, but the old saying is true. Curiosity killed the cat. Stubbornness only makes it more likely.

I-I know... I'm working on that. It's kinda hard here, though. Anything could happen here.

Anyway, you can't just give up on things easily, either, right?

This... isn't the first time I've dealt with this. I'll just have to figure something else out. I can't react the way I usually do.

What's... the way you usually do?

Leave. Nobody needs to see me after the things I do. They're better off not having a monster around, and they usually want to hurt me anyway.

Look, if you're a normal person ninety-five percent of the time, and you have a problem five percent of the time--Even if there isn't a way around it, you're still a person with a problem. A big problem, but it doesn't mean you can't have friends.

Especially ones who can take care of themselves around you when it happens.

[She almost said something, but realized it was a matter of stubbornness of her own. Of course Yukari was aware of the fact that she had powers, and god help her she had better realize that Samantha would actually use those powers to full effect if given the chance at that point. She was also thoroughly aware at this point that she didn't want to listen to excuses.
