An old, brick edifice stands in front of the burnt-down ruins of a home in the hillside. Mountains rear up in all directions, covered in lush, green vegetation. Nobody comes this way anymore, but you have the sense that anything placed in the mailbox attached to this old structure will be found by someone, the only living person for whom this place still has any meaning.

[Messing with his head won't get her very much further than a lot of backpedaling from the ninja, and maybe enough food that she'll have plenty for leftovers tomorrow.

Staring is something he's never managed to help himself to stop, so he watches, trying to work it out for himself.]

I'm... safe. Safe to be around, safe to be with. Mostly. I still feel the urge to feed, but it's not like before. I know how to be me, without it getting out of hand.

[She looks down at her plate and smirks.]

It's sort of ... weird. Back home, it happened naturally, more or less. Here it was so sudden. How do go from hating yourself and thinking you'd be deadly to be in bed with normally to suddenly safe, even to being better off with someone than without?

[Honestly, he's more worried for Sam than himself. He has a confidence in his abilities, even if they aren't what he's used to back home, but he'd been known throughout the village for putting others first. Especially friends.]

I'm glad-- er, you know, for you. Not 'cause-- well...

[The next words shut him up though, not that he really understands what she's talking about. What happened naturally? Sex? Oh wow. Wait. Hating herself? Hating sex?]

I. That's good right?

It's definitely good that I'm not behaving like that person anymore. [She shrugged.] The rest? I don't know... that's something you have to decide for yourself. I haven't decided just yet. But, there are ... upsides.

[Something told him that admitting he didn't really know what she was talking about wouldn't be a good idea right now.

It doesn't take much to understand vaguely what the concept is, but that doesn't help right now.

So, he nods, just once.]

We're friends right, so-- I uh... as long as you're okay.

[She looked at him for a second a little funny and then nodded.] Yeah, we're friends. And I'm ok, I promise.

Er. Yeah. Good.

[She wasn't quite sure how to feel about 'friends,' just yet, considering she was going for a bit more... but she'd figure it out.]
