An old, brick edifice stands in front of the burnt-down ruins of a home in the hillside. Mountains rear up in all directions, covered in lush, green vegetation. Nobody comes this way anymore, but you have the sense that anything placed in the mailbox attached to this old structure will be found by someone, the only living person for whom this place still has any meaning.

[Lilly listens carefully, a small frown on her face. When Samantha's done explaining, she scrambles over, grabs her hand, and gives it a sloppy six-year-old kiss.

Nothing happens the first time. She thinks she feels the sensation Samantha described, at least a little bit-- but she isn't quite able to grab onto it.]

Try again [Said after a wipe of a cloth on her hand.] And a little less saliva this time, ok? Keep trying until you can feel the pull. Don't worry. You can't take enough to hurt me.

[She tries again. It's marginally less spitty.]

Felt it.

[But it had still slipped away. Maybe the third time will be the charm?]

Keep trying. Be patient and pull at it slowly. You don't have to stop until you've managed it. We're going to want to do this until you're tired.

[The third time, she's able to get a grip on it-- it's tenuous, but there all the same. Now she's trying to pull, but it's still an unfamiliar sensation to her, so it's not going so well.]

[When she loses the grip, Samantha takes the same back again, giving her the feeling of a sort of tug of war happening between them.] Ok, good. Do it again. It'll get easier.

[Lilly wrinkles her nose, and shakes her head-- not saying no, but to clear it.]

It takes a little getting used to. It's very natural for me, but it's very similar to my own body back home, so I'm used to it.

[Without replying, Lilly tries again. It's still hard, but it's a little less hard this time.]

Try harder. Pull until it feels like you're straining. You want to stretch until you're exhausted. Every day you do, you'll start to get better, ok?

Yeah, but it gets easier if you practice. It's like anything that's hard at first. Practice and it gets easier.

It takes time. I can't tell you how long. But, eventually you will get better at using it. It took me a few months to get really good with my powers.

At least thirty, but I'm not sure exactly. I didn't have this power originally. I was in Hel with a different power altogether. It was easier to sense when the change happened with that one.
