IC Inbox - Asgard Eventide

An old, brick edifice stands in front of the burnt-down ruins of a home in the hillside. Mountains rear up in all directions, covered in lush, green vegetation. Nobody comes this way anymore, but you have the sense that anything placed in the mailbox attached to this old structure will be found by someone, the only living person for whom this place still has any meaning.

I had heard, yes. He was one of the people who told me I should sell them openly. It's going to be a little more quiet without him around, honestly.

It will be. Unfortunately, with Castiel gone, we've no one to lead the powers portion of the first-aid classes.

You must meet quite a few of the city's medics through your work. Let me know if you hear of anyone who might be interested into stepping into that role? I plan on organzing some fresh lectures soon.

Surprisingly less you'd think, but you know... Hisao might be interested in that sort of work. I will ask around among the ones I find, though Ritsu'd be best to avoid. He's... excitable enough as is.

He's a good kid. Ritsu, you'd know if you met him. He apologizes for everything, constantly. Literally everything.

That's one way of putting it. Ritsu's not bad, but honestly he's got more self esteem issues than even I know what to do with. I wonder sometimes about him.

Ritsu? If anything, this place is good for him, just like it's been for Hisao. For some folks, it really is hell, but for some of us... there's a chance for things to actually be different here. Maybe not completely, but even a little is an improvement.

A chance for things to be different ... ? You know, I hadn't considered that -- perhaps because I am often preoccupied with things as they were -- or are about to be.

I was when I got here. I think it's just... it's a big change for me in some ways. If I could drag the tea back with me home, oh god... you have no idea how much I want to do that. Even if it didn't always work.

If you had the choice between staying here indefinitely or returning to your home reality, you would choose the former?

I haven't decided. That's not easy for me. My mother's dead, but I still think my dad has her soul. The thing is I don't know that I can help things there... There's things going on there, but I'm not sure how much I'd really help.

At the same time, while I want to help here, I don't want to just let things lie there, and I'm not sure if I'm not finding things I want here I can't ever have there.

More sense than you realize. It's not easy to have obligations hanging and be unable to fulfill them, even through no fault of your own.

Yes and no. For now, it's just nerves, thoughts about 'when it's done.' But that's not now, and it's not here. Rescue Freyr, and the fight just continues. It's not going to end just like that, after all.

I'll wait to hear back from you on that then. I'd always wondered, though, how you could tolerate him. It's not that he's not a good person... in his own way. You just seem so...

How the hell did you meet anyway?

[Watson actually laughs out loud at that.] It's a rum story.

[But he is not adverse to telling it.] I'd just been discharged. Wounded in service and my health was so poor, it was generally considered I'd spend the rest of my days an invalid. I had my military pension which I was spending a little too freely until I came to the abrupt realisation that I needed to take cheaper lodgings. As luck would happen, I ran into an old school friend on the street, and while dining with him, mentioned my predicament and it turned out that an acquaintance of his by the name of Holmes had just that morning been complaining to him about the impossibility of finding anyone to share the rent of some rooms he'd found on Baker Street. I was eager to meet him, so we set off, found Holmes beating a corpse in the medical laboratory of the University to discover how far bruises could be produced after death. I had misgivings of course, but the rooms were good enough, I determined to make a go of it.

You know, I believe it. That sounds too crazy to be made up, and I could easily see him doing just that to try and experiment. He strikes me s the sort of person who'd do a voodoo ritual just to prove it doesn't work, and when it did, try and figure out the best way to kill a zombie horde one at a time, making small talk with them while he worked.

-- I never thought I'd say this but I am profoundly grateful that Holmes has never shown the remotest interest in Voduin. What a terrifying thought.

Especially since the vast majority of it was just psychology, and not actually magic, so it would work here just fine?
