An old, brick edifice stands in front of the burnt-down ruins of a home in the hillside. Mountains rear up in all directions, covered in lush, green vegetation. Nobody comes this way anymore, but you have the sense that anything placed in the mailbox attached to this old structure will be found by someone, the only living person for whom this place still has any meaning.

... no, no you really didn't. Do I dare ask? It's not like I've ever had a wyvern's eggs, after all.

One, no idea what a wyvern is. Two, I didn't want to know what kind of eggs they were-- but they were huge, rotten, and apparently delicious when slurped with a slice of freshly burnt toast.

[Well. Thinking about this seems to have zero effect on her appetite, since she goes ahead and bites down on a new slice of pizza.]

Think like a dragon, only smaller and kinda half bird instead of all lizard. nastier temper, more like an animal than an intelligent, thinking thing. Usually had a scorpion's tail too.

Nope. Passed it off to the nearest possible asshole while everyone else wasn't looking. Like hell I'm putting a rotten egg in my mouth.

Oh thank god. You had me going there for a minute. I seriously thought you'd actually done that. Honestly, I don't think I could ever put something like that in my mouth.

Ugh, no way. I almost barfed just from taking a whiff. Wouldn't stand near anyone who ate it for a whole hour, too.

Hey, gotta admit, there's worse things than a bit too much cayenne pepper in the world, don'tcha? [She gave her a look of smug self-satisfaction at that while she rolled a bit of pizza and took a big bite.]

... So, what do you usually cook, since we're talking food.

No, I think they're on the same level. [You can only classify things as "gross" and "delicious", man. There's no in between, dang it.

She chews a bit more slowly as she thinks about that, though.]

Usually? Whatever's in the fridge.

Some days, Eve, you are really straightforward about things in life. Actually that's pretty much always. If I promised not to bur your tongue off, would you let me try and cook for you one day?

I refuse. I don't have taste bud insurance.

Oh well. We could always just order out whenever we do something like this too. That'd save both of us the trouble, wouldn't it?

Depends on the type of take out, but, yeah-- that sounds less lethal.

Oh now, you know I wouldn't kill you with this stuff. Just make you wish you were dead already for a day or two.

No way. I'd take being dead over wishing I was dead any day, thanks.

I'll keep that in mind if it comes up. Either way, the pizza's not bad in the meantime, so we don't have to worry about burnt tonsils.

I plan on it. I plan on it. So, I can't remember what the hell we were going to talk about. I know we were having pizz... oh right. Let's finish the pizza first.
