An old, brick edifice stands in front of the burnt-down ruins of a home in the hillside. Mountains rear up in all directions, covered in lush, green vegetation. Nobody comes this way anymore, but you have the sense that anything placed in the mailbox attached to this old structure will be found by someone, the only living person for whom this place still has any meaning.

I'll be out front.

[True to her word, when he arrived, she was manning the counter, grinding down some herbal root for tea and putting it into a strainer. She looked up and nodded to him when he came in. No words just yet. Might as well give him a chance to start this off, though when Draco said pragmatic, she assumed it didn't mean something nice.]

[And true to his word, he's there in ten minutes with his hands in his pockets and an unreadable look on his face. He comes in and approaches the counter, watching her silently for a few moments.]

'lo, Sam. [Tea. Tea is always a good thing to offer and his lips twitch a bit.] Sophie recommended that I talk with you about certain things.

Sophie? [She went to put the tea into the strainer and started to work on actually brewing the pot. She set out a couple cups between them and looked over at him, a raised eyebrow there. She and her employee rarely spoke other than for business purposes, so it wasn't often that someone came on her recommendation.]

Now you have me curious. What sort of thing am I helping with?

[He's not moving at all, watching her closely as he lets the conversation with Sophie rattle around in his head.]

Ley lines. She said you might know about the magical ley lines in the city. True?

Oh... Yeah. I was one of the ones who helped map them to start, and I helped Aladdin when he turned them on throughout the city to help awaken the Runic magic. So, yeah. I know them.

[She tapped the counter.]

In point of fact, this building's on one of the nexus points in Loki. It's why I bought this place. Why?

Because I might need you to draft me an actual map. Is that possible?

I still have the originals and copies. [She raised a finger and walked back into the back hall. There's a few mutters and curses before she emerges. The copies that she has are of ones she originally fashioned for Uther and Niccolo at times. She kept extras around for just this sort of reason.

When she rolled them out, there were separate sheets for each of the districts. The one for Loki was there. There were a lot more notations in there than just ley lines.]

The green lines are what you're looking for. The circles are the runic. The rest... a lot of it's actually out of date after the original siege. We took damage in some of the fights, especially that and the deep freeze. I really should update these.

[He immediately leans over to study the maps, eyes widening at the details.]

...how soon do you reckon you could update these? If you can't that's fine I'll work with it but these are almost precisely what I need.

The Ley Lines haven't moved. Burning down a building isn't enough to do that. The city was structured based upon this lattice, not the other way around.

[She tapped a few sections and shrugged. There were notes there, little symbols. The key and legend indicated that some referenced sewer entrances, narrow alleyways, choke-points, uneven footing, closed alleyways...]

Some of the terrain, the choke points have changed. A few of these buildings here never fully recovered from the last attack. I could probably get Loki and Sigyn back up to date in a couple weeks in my spare time. We'd want help to do the rest in a timely fashion.

Not enough time I'm afraid. I'll just have to work with these and figure out where to go from there.

Though I'd be interested to see the finished product eventually.

These will be fine if what you're trying to do has to do with the lattice of the magic in this city. If you're looking for where to get into a fight, or how to defend a district, I'm not exactly sure they're as good right now.

For now that's what I need...though if I commissioned you, you could get me a map with the updated lines, correct? A few weeks out can wait but I want it.

I can get you updated maps with everything that's changed. The Ley Lines shouldn't need updating, but the rest I can work on in my spare time. I think I actually know most of the changes for Loki District already.

[She skulked around the district enough. She'd better have known.

What's your asking price for something like that then?

[She damned near said nothing. There was a pause and she looked at him levelly before finally shrugging. There was something he had she could use.]

Some of her herbs. She used to get them from somewhere, and fuck if I know how. I haven't been able to experiment on them properly, and I'd like a quantity to work with.

[The stuff she wanted was the stuff that came through Utgard through contacts Kaz originally had with Thrymheim, but they probably still got some in at a trickle.]
