An old, brick edifice stands in front of the burnt-down ruins of a home in the hillside. Mountains rear up in all directions, covered in lush, green vegetation. Nobody comes this way anymore, but you have the sense that anything placed in the mailbox attached to this old structure will be found by someone, the only living person for whom this place still has any meaning.

Hi, Sam. I know this odd but I need to tell you something. I haven't been exactly open about a few things and you might be one of the few that would understand.

Okay then, this is something really big though.

Technically I'm way older then I look, but at the same time I'm much younger then I look. Needless to say that I'm about 1000 years old and around 4 years old at the same time.

... I'm dating someone that's almost thirty and looks thirteen, and I looked like you see me, ignoring that I had wings, when I was eleven. [She laughed softly.] So... how do you mean that you're four? The thousand years old is easier to explain I bet.

That's good I'm not allow in this odd age thing.

[He didn't feel to odd, but it was less lonely when he thought about it.]

It's sort of easy to explain, you see my mom died before I was born, even before I was at the fetus stage of growth. Ugo, my djinn friend, saved me using magic. He had me in sort of a magic womb, growing at a really slow rate. The day he deem me ready, was only a few years ago in my world. Hence me being about four or five.

But he was keeping you alive for thousands of years before that? [She smirked.] I guess that makes sense, yeah. How old do you feel? I think that's what's the most important.

He was and during that time he turned into a djinn, he was just a magician before that.

[He hums softly pondering that question.]

That's a hard question, I don't feel old at least.

I guess, in the end, you're only as old as you think of yourself as being. I don't really worry about that sort of thing like most people. Why were you so worried?

I was able to see a lot of past before I was born, thanks to a power I have. There is a lot of dwell, I guess my age issue was the easiest one to latch on to.

I could see some reacting badly, but I don't think most would. I just wondered why you were worried in the first place about us. You're fine.

I guess it because it leads to questions about how my mom died and what happened to my dad. Those facts are part of how the old world died back home.

That would be much more upsetting for most people here.

I think those are questions someone might be more willing to ask if they were from your world. I doubt a lot of people here know enough to think of that... though I understand you not wanting people to ask about her. I don't like people asking about mine either.

I going to have to explain how the world ended back home or there is a good chance a war will break out.

I wouldn't mind telling people about her she was amazing, her death however was a true tragedy.

You might. This one's definitely your call. I don't think it hurts them not to know, but I could see why you'd want them to be aware. I can't make the call for you, but either is fine by me.

...mine was too, but... well it was complicated. Let's just leave it at that.

That seems like a good idea. Just the folks that are closest to you really. Not everyone needs to know. Does it change anything for you to be open like this?
