Unique Acquisitions - Midnight Syndicate
This page will be devoted to 'unique acquisitions' acquired in the midst of the Midnight Syndicate, whether by Rewards, special events, powers or magic learned, favors from the Maeve, gifts from other players, etc...
I'll keep a table of contents here and post the different acquisitions below.
- Access to Erosian Magic (Secret)
- Her Lab/Garden

- Fully Advanced Regeneration
- The Oubliette
- Gift of the Dullahan

The Tonfa of Takanawa
A set of exquisite tonfa fashioned of the best materials the Maeve can find and perfectly balanced, they were made with the suggestions of Perdita and an enchantment placed according to her specifications on them by Gloria, in repayment of a favor owed to Samantha. While wielded, they become extremely heavy and difficult to use. They will fight and struggle against their user, making it harder to use them properly.
However, while training with them, it becomes easier to train, to get better and to further perfect the art of their use, so long as one can endure their exhausting abuse. The longer one trains and the more they improve, the tonfa will continue to grow more heavy and more unwieldy for that user, to keep forcing them to be exhausted but train more quickly and thoroughly.
Advanced Regeneration
Samantha received through the Rewards system an augmentation to her natural regeneration, causing it to more closely resemble the regeneration of the Maeve's Regen Tonics. There are limits, and building up reserves to handle far more violent actions and gruesome damage requires time and ... training. However, her regeneration is significantly improved compared to her natural healing factor at home, and there is less need for her to actually drink Regen Tonics herself.
Fully Advanced Regeneration
Acquired and advanced in August, September, October, November and December 2015 -
Her regeneration no longer will require Regen Tonics at all by December, and will no longer require further training/undue physical or spiritual exhaustion due to recovery.
(In the months between August and December this will improve. I'll use 'best judgment' in a given situation, and lean towards longer recovery times for truly heinous wounds.)
The limits:
-Blood Loss is only an issue in extreme situations.
-Cuts and Minor Wounds (bruises, abrashions, anything that would not impact performance) take seconds to heal.
-Wounds that would affect performance but are not severe or life threatening take minutes. This includes minor breaks and sprains.
-Grievous wounds that would otherwise be fatal take hours. This includes broken bones.
-Severed Limbs or removed "Non-Essential" organs take 1-2 days.
Upper Limits:
Brain Destruction, Heart Removal, Removal/Destruction of both Lungs before one can be recovered, full removal of internal organs or beheading are all fatal, as she cannot recover fast enough to survive.
The Oubliette
The entry to this small, forgotten little chamber is a trapdoor under a straw mat in a forgotten tool shed in one of the less frequented parts of the Maeve's grounds. It is forgotten, in part, because a charm has been placed on it by the Maeve. Anyone who attempts to scry it magically or come within 50' that isn't protected by magics like the Maeve's will feel compelled to find a better use for their time elsewhere, not realizing a magic spell is in place. Only Samantha has been freed from this particular charm.
The room is 10' by 10' by 10' and physically soundproofed. The lock to the heavy trap-door is on the outside and cannot be physically picked from within without the right tools. The room is only lit if a light is brought in from outside. Entry is gained either by being dropped to the padded floor, or by affixing a rope to the hook on the roof. The only other adornment in the room is a set of manacles for a human-sized person's ankles and feet along one wall, tough and of good construction. The room's ventilation is not great, but good enough for two people to linger. Samantha has found a chamberpot
A compulsion lies on the room that affects Samantha only. It compels her, even at a distance to begin devising reasons to use the room for its intended purpose, to kidnap and incarcerate someone within. To be ... forgotten. At least by any but her. This compulsion is resistable, but is an ever increasingly gnawing itch she has to deal with.
Because of that itch, Samantha has personally placed the following enchantment on the room (I will update if necessary):
-The Manacles reduce the physical strength of anyone shackled in them, making a strong athlete no stronger than a normal person who jogs a couple times a week, or a normal person weak. (Samantha)
Erosian Magic
Present Level of Erosian Magical Skill: Intermediate, preparing to Specialize in Illusion Magic.
-Samantha is preparing her own Grimoire, and has recently (Mid-Oct 2015) acquired an old grimoire of illusionary magic made of ice and steel she is using to decipher and learn Erosian illsuions.
-She is developing non-sex based rituals to boost her magic. They are considerably less efficient than sex-rituals, but less likely to be noticed by the Maeve.
Special Power
That of the "Gan Ceean," or "Dullahan," an unseelie faerie of ancient Ireland, commonly known as the Headless Horseman.
She does not gain all of the tricks of the Headless Horseman. (Being unbarred from passage is up to her to figure out. She has to rent her own damned horse. Speaking someone's name does not slay them.) However, she has a gift that lets her 'look the part.' She can survive and remain mobile even if her head is removed from its shoulders, and is able to withdraw her spine afterwards and use it as a whip.
Her 'Coffin'
-Currently contained within are her Grimoire and personal Alchemy Journal, along with the grimoire of an illusionist she acquired through hook and crook.
Minaiture Green Apple Tree
No, it's not quite as innocent as it sounds. Greta granted as a petty spite, without Samantha's knowledge, a miniature version of the Green Apple tree that appeared in the October introduction event. Its fruit, which magically replenishes, is obviously magical but charmed so that nobody can find anything sinister or dangerous in it. She believes that the magic is what enables her to actually taste the tart, slightly sweet treats. While this is true, the fruit carries a sinister curse on it. Anyone who eats from it suffers for a short time an increase in desire, jealousy, cruelty and possessiveness. While it doesn't completely overwhelm Samantha's sense, it makes her much more open to suggestions that she would normally consider outright evil or insane.
The charm causes people to not associate the effects with the apples, thinking them innocent. Obviously something else is going on. Maybe the mansion's just getting to her...
