An old, brick edifice stands in front of the burnt-down ruins of a home in the hillside. Mountains rear up in all directions, covered in lush, green vegetation. Nobody comes this way anymore, but you have the sense that anything placed in the mailbox attached to this old structure will be found by someone, the only living person for whom this place still has any meaning.

[She blinked. In principle, she understood that this sort of thing was done between coworkers, but she'd never actually had it done for her. Taking the gift, she returned the bow with a nod of her own and looked down at it.]

It's been too long since I stopped by in person. I think I notice some improvements. Business is obviously going well.

[She nodded and led him in. the shop itself hadn't changed much, but there were some definite different smells. Another change was that, listed on the chart of potion prices, were a few chemicals she'd kept secret before.

Decided to go with a suggestion I got a while back to openly sell the poisons. It's not like we're not fighting a war right now after all.

[Watson studies the list of poisons a moment. He almost thinks of asking for samples for some of the rarer kind, for Holmes to study, before remembering that Holmes is no longer with them.

It's easy to forget, even at this distance past his most recent departure.]

Though, speaking of the war effort, you've heard of Castiel's departure?

[Holmes had 'tested' several of those, in low doses, in fact. Oddly, that would have been a rather unusual conversation.]

I had heard, yes. He was one of the people who told me I should sell them openly. It's going to be a little more quiet without him around, honestly.

It will be. Unfortunately, with Castiel gone, we've no one to lead the powers portion of the first-aid classes.

You must meet quite a few of the city's medics through your work. Let me know if you hear of anyone who might be interested into stepping into that role? I plan on organzing some fresh lectures soon.

Surprisingly less you'd think, but you know... Hisao might be interested in that sort of work. I will ask around among the ones I find, though Ritsu'd be best to avoid. He's... excitable enough as is.

He's a good kid. Ritsu, you'd know if you met him. He apologizes for everything, constantly. Literally everything.

That's one way of putting it. Ritsu's not bad, but honestly he's got more self esteem issues than even I know what to do with. I wonder sometimes about him.

Ritsu? If anything, this place is good for him, just like it's been for Hisao. For some folks, it really is hell, but for some of us... there's a chance for things to actually be different here. Maybe not completely, but even a little is an improvement.

I was when I got here. I think it's just... it's a big change for me in some ways. If I could drag the tea back with me home, oh god... you have no idea how much I want to do that. Even if it didn't always work.

If you had the choice between staying here indefinitely or returning to your home reality, you would choose the former?

I haven't decided. That's not easy for me. My mother's dead, but I still think my dad has her soul. The thing is I don't know that I can help things there... There's things going on there, but I'm not sure how much I'd really help.

At the same time, while I want to help here, I don't want to just let things lie there, and I'm not sure if I'm not finding things I want here I can't ever have there.

...that really doesn't make as much sense as I want it to.

More sense than you realize. It's not easy to have obligations hanging and be unable to fulfill them, even through no fault of your own.

Yes and no. For now, it's just nerves, thoughts about 'when it's done.' But that's not now, and it's not here. Rescue Freyr, and the fight just continues. It's not going to end just like that, after all.

Nothing is. If I've learned anything from my dad's convoluted schemes, it's that nothing in this world is really simple or straightforward. But, we'll manage.
