An old, brick edifice stands in front of the burnt-down ruins of a home in the hillside. Mountains rear up in all directions, covered in lush, green vegetation. Nobody comes this way anymore, but you have the sense that anything placed in the mailbox attached to this old structure will be found by someone, the only living person for whom this place still has any meaning.

mmmm? [Innocent demon is innocent? Feigning ignorance soooo hard right now.] Whatever are you talking about?

[A lot of people have been telling him they know nothing about this-- and he's believed a lot of people...

Why is it so difficult to believe Samantha?]

I'm talkin' about this dumbass basket someone left right outside my door and it said--

[She's having to control the gale of laughter at this point. It's really not possible to lie right now. Her sides hurt and even her back still aches a little.]

I know you aren't, dumbass... but everyone was poking fun at you two. It's hard to resist, and you react so well. Don't tell Sasuke. He's a humorless dick sometimes.

[Veeeeeery gradually his eyes widen, and then his eyebrows furrow, at about the same time as his mouth drops open and then smoothly to show a set of clenched teeth.]

[She chuckled and grinned at him, switching to video. She had an impish look in her eyes.]

I didn't even write that it was about you two, you know. Your mind just went there. That's the sort of thing that makes this too easy. It's only funny because you guys react like you do.

And yep. He probably burned it. Keep the stuff. You're bound to find some girl to sweep you off your loud, obnoxious feet. You'll want them right about then.

[Crap. He really hadn't thought about that, but it had arrived right after everyone had started talking about them again.

Not that she's helping. Talking about the fact that he would do that with anyone is pretty traumatic at the moment.]

Heh, nah, probably not yet. Sorry, but you're about as romantic as a rock Naruto. You know... the shelf life on teh condoms isn't enough, but the lube should still be good. You can hold onto that.

Seriously, though, you two make it so much harder for people not to think something's up with the way you react every time.

[She's laughing.] Seriously, the slightest mention and you two are both defensive. It's priceless. Fine, Naruto we both know you two aren't doing the horizontal monster mash, so I've got a question I gotta ask.

What's your type? Might help get people off your case if they knew. I know it ain't Temari. She's more my type than yours [Ignoring the 'everyone's my type' thing they're not talking about.].

[Directions incoming! It's in Heimdall district.]

Alright then. Half hour. If you're actually going to punch me, do it before we eat, got it?

[There they go.

He stares for a while... and then huffs.]

Yeah.

Well, you better be ready for it.

[samantha_grey]

[She doesn't reply, though around the time she'd agreed to, she's just leaning against the door frame of the shop, quietly waiting for him with an impish grin on her face.]

[He's off-- like a shot actually. The video stops, and he takes to the rooftops, which is a little more effort than it ever used to be.

Despite the way he comes across he's pretty good at being stealthy when he wants to be, which is why there's a kunai landing in the wall beside Samantha's head the moment he gets to the rooftop across the road from her.]

[Ok, the kunai got a bit of a start. She still maintains some of her blase look, but she reaches over to pull it out of the wall and finger it while looking up towards the roof with a 'Really?' look printed all over her face.]

I thought you were the mature one!

[Yes. She just called you 'mature' Naruto.]

[kuramaless]

[There's a smile on his face when he sees her start like that, and he jumps down off the roof, holding out his hand to accept the kunai back.

Perhaps that's enough to pay back for the basket. If she's paying for lunch.]

Yeah well... you were scared.

[samantha_grey]

Startled. [She corrected with a smirk, handing it to him and jabbing her head towards the door.] I've died before, you know. A knife to the head's nicer than some ways to go.

[kuramaless]

Yeah well. Still surprised ya.

[He reaches out to take the kunai from her, tucking it back into the pocket on his thigh before looking up at the place they've ended up outside of.]
